First Nations On-Reserve Housing Program

Overview:
The First Nations On-Reserve Housing Program supports First Nations in providing more and better-quality housing in their communities. Funding can support planning and management of housing needs, construction and acquisition of new homes, and renovation of existing housing. In British Columbia, eligible First Nations receive support through the Housing Support Program.

Funding Amount:

• $3.94 billion in targeted investments between April 2016 and September 30, 2025
• About $166 million provided annually to support a range of housing needs
• An additional $223 million over 5 years was committed through Budget 2022 for housing management, training, certification and technical services

Who Can Apply:
First Nations in all provinces and Yukon that receive annual housing funding allocations through ISC’s 1996 On-Reserve Housing Policy do not need to apply. First Nations in British Columbia that did not opt into the 1996 policy may apply through the BC Housing Support Program.
