FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Representation and Promotion is part of the Arts Across Canada and Abroad program. It provides funding for travel activities that promote Canadian artists and artistic works, support market development, and help establish a place for Canadian arts practice in the global arts market.

Sector Support, Innovation and Development is part of the Supporting Artistic Practice program. It provides funding for projects that encourage the ongoing growth, strengthening, and development of Canada’s arts sector.

The Reserve Land and Environment Management Program (RLEMP) provides funding and capacity-building support to First Nations to manage their reserve lands, natural resources and environment. The program provides tools, training and knowledge to help First Nations undertake land management activities under the Indian Act and build toward greater responsibility for their lands.

The First Nation Infrastructure Fund (FNIF) provides funding to help First Nations communities improve and expand public infrastructure. The program supports infrastructure projects that improve quality of life and the environment in First Nations communities.

The program supports a range of housing activities, including training, capacity building, renovations and new home construction on reserve. First Nations can apply through two separate applications based on their community’s housing priorities.

The Wildfire Relief Bundle provides emergency funding to First Nations affected by wildfires and Indigenous-led organizations providing frontline support to evacuated First Nation members. The funding is intended for immediate community relief and support during wildfire emergencies.

The Employee Benefits Program, formerly known as Band Employee Benefits, provides funding to eligible First Nation and Inuit employers to support the employer’s share of contributions to eligible employees’ pension plans. This may include employer-sponsored pension plans, the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) and additional employee benefits.

Band Support Funding helps First Nations cover the costs of local government and administering services funded by Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). The program provides a stable funding base to support effective community governance and efficient service delivery.

The Emergency Management Assistance Program (EMAP) supports First Nations communities in building resilience, preparing for natural hazards and responding to emergencies. The Non-Structural Mitigation and Preparedness funding stream is proposal-based and supports projects that strengthen preparedness and mitigation capacity for emergencies caused by natural disasters.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Program supports elementary and secondary education for eligible First Nations students ordinarily resident on reserve. The program works in partnership with First Nations to help improve education outcomes and close gaps between First Nations students and other Canadians.

The First Nations On-Reserve Housing Program supports First Nations in providing more and better-quality housing in their communities. Funding can support planning and management of housing needs, construction and acquisition of new homes, and renovation of existing housing. In British Columbia, eligible First Nations receive support through the Housing Support Program.

The Circuit Rider Training Program (CRTP) is a capacity-building program that provides training and mentorship to operators of First Nations drinking water and wastewater systems. Qualified Circuit Rider Trainers rotate through First Nations communities to provide hands-on training, support certification, and help operators safely manage, maintain, and monitor their systems.

One-time financial assistance to Northwest Territories residents who are required to evacuate their community due to a natural disaster, such as a wildfire or flood. The funding helps cover immediate expenses during an evacuation, including accommodation, food, fuel, and other essential needs.

Funding supports projects that build community resilience through wildfire planning, training, fuel management, and prevention activities while incorporating Indigenous knowledge into emergency management.

Children’s disABILITY Services supports Manitoba families who are raising children with developmental or physical disabilities. The program helps families access services and supports that enable children to remain at home, participate in their communities, and reach their full potential.

Helps First Nations students with moderate to profound special education needs access quality, culturally appropriate educational programs and services. Funding supports specialized staff, assessments, therapies, assistive technology, and other resources that help students succeed while meeting provincial or territorial education standards.

This program provides funding to help First Nations purchase, build, renovate, or improve capital assets that support the delivery of First Nations Child and Family Services and Jordan’s Principle services. Funding helps create safe, accessible, culturally appropriate spaces that support children, youth, and families.

The program supports projects that build organizational capacity, improve access to business opportunities, and promote a culture of entrepreneurship. It does not provide funding for individual business start-ups, acquisitions, or business expansions.

Funding supports communities in reviewing proposed projects, participating in consultations, and assessing potential impacts on Aboriginal and treaty rights.

A funded assessment designed to help Indigenous communities strengthen communication, outreach, and engagement. The program identifies communication gaps, improves connection with urban and off-reserve members, and aligns outreach efforts with community priorities, including Comprehensive Community Planning (CCP).
