Sector Support, Innovation and Development

Overview:
Sector Support, Innovation and Development is part of the Supporting Artistic Practice program. It provides funding for projects that encourage the ongoing growth, strengthening, and development of Canada’s arts sector.

The program supports artists, arts professionals, cultural connectors, groups, and organizations working to strengthen the arts ecosystem, build sector capacity, support artists, encourage collaboration, and develop innovative approaches to sector-wide challenges.

Funding Amount:
Up to $100,000 per application
Maximum of $100,000 per year

Who Can Apply:
Eligible applicants include:

  • Artists or arts workers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis artists and arts/cultural workers
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis cultural carriers
  • Artistic groups
  • Arts-supporting groups
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis groups or collectives
  • Artistic organizations
  • Supporting organizations
  • Presenting organizations
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis not-for-profit organizations
  • Business cultural connectors
  • First Nations, Inuit or Métis for-profit organizations

Organizations that receive core funding are also eligible.

Project Examples:
Eligible activities can include:

  • Developing arts-sector resources, systems, digital platforms, and support models
  • Services that support the production, representation, or management of Canadian artists and arts organizations
  • Mentorship, professional development, network building, and advancing artistic practice
  • Sector research, knowledge sharing, publishing, networking, and magazines supporting artistic or literary practice
  • Activities that support marginalized and sovereignty-seeking arts communities
  • Testing or implementing innovative solutions to complex sector issues
  • Organizational development, sustainability, stability, and digital capacity building

Eligible expenses may include project management, equipment, accessibility services, safety expenses, honoraria for Elders and Knowledge Keepers, copyright and royalties, and required child/dependent care.
