Indigenous Visual Artists’ Materials

Overview:

The Ontario Arts Council’s Indigenous Visual Artists’ Materials program supports First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists and Culture Carriers in Ontario who work in visual arts, crafts, or traditional and customary Indigenous art forms. The grants help cover the cost of purchasing art materials and supplies so artists can create artwork or facilitate workshops.

This is a third-party recommender program. Applicants apply through an Indigenous organization designated as a recommender, which assesses applications and submits grant recommendations to the Ontario Arts Council.

Funding Amount:

  • $500
  • $1,000

Funding is for art materials and supplies only. Grants awarded may be lower than the amount requested because of limited funds and application volume. Applicants may receive only one grant through this program per program year, although they may apply to multiple recommenders. Only one application per recommender is allowed each program year.

Who Can Apply:

  • First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists and Culture Carriers.
  • Applicants must be residents of Ontario.
  • Applicants must identify their Indigenous nation and community and describe their lived experience in the application.

  • Organizations.
