Emergency Evacuation Relief Program

Overview:

The Emergency Evacuation Relief Program (EERP) provides one-time financial assistance to Northwest Territories residents who are required to evacuate their community due to a natural disaster, such as a wildfire or flood. The funding helps cover immediate expenses during an evacuation, including accommodation, food, fuel, and other essential needs.

Funding Amount:

Eligible evacuees may receive:

  • $800 for each resident aged 18 years and older
  • $400 for each dependent under 18 years of age

Funding is provided as a one-time direct deposit payment to help with emergency living expenses during an official evacuation.

Eligibility / Who It’s For:

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a resident of the Northwest Territories.
  • Have evacuated their home community due to an official evacuation order issued by their community government.
  • Be registered as an evacuee with their community government.
  • Not be submitting a claim for the same expenses through insurance.

Applicants may also be required to provide:

  • Government-issued photo identification
  • Proof of residency in the evacuated community
  • Documentation for any dependents included in the application
  • Direct deposit information
