International Residencies

Overview:
International Residencies is part of the Arts Across Canada and Abroad program. It supports Canadian artists, arts workers, artistic groups and artistic organizations participating in international residencies.

Funding supports creative research and/or creation that includes international networking and cultural exchange. The residency must take place outside Canada and last at least 5 consecutive days.

Funding Amount:
Up to $20,000 per application

Who Can Apply:
Eligible applicants include:

• Artists or arts workers
• Artistic groups
• Artistic organizations
• First Nations, Inuit or Métis artists or arts/cultural workers
• First Nations, Inuit or Métis cultural carriers
• First Nations, Inuit or Métis groups or collectives
• First Nations, Inuit or Métis not-for-profit organizations

Eligible Activities:
Funding can support participation in an international residency where the applicant has been invited or selected by the host organization.
Eligible activities include:

• Creative research
• Artistic creation
• International networking
• Cultural exchange activities connected to the residency

The residency must be at least 5 consecutive days.

Not eligible:

• Hosting a residency
• Activities taking place in Canada

Eligible Expenses:
Eligible expenses incurred during the residency may include:

• Artist and professional fees
• Personal project-related costs
• Travel and accommodation
• Safety-related expenses
• Child or dependent care required to complete the activities
• Accessibility expenses, including interpretation, translation, captioning, audio description, accessibility audits and personal support workers

Expenses covered by the host organization are not eligible.
