Children’s disABILITY Services

Overview:

Children’s disABILITY Services supports Manitoba families who are raising children with developmental or physical disabilities. The program helps families access services and supports that enable children to remain at home, participate in their communities, and reach their full potential.

Funding Amount:

  • Funding is based on the individual needs of each eligible child and family.
  • Support may include services and resources that help families care for their child at home and in the community.
  • The program does not provide a fixed grant amount.

Eligibility / Who It’s For:

Eligible applicants include families who:

  • Live in Manitoba.
  • Are caring for a child under the age of 18 in their birth, adoptive, or extended family.

Eligible children must have a medical diagnosis confirming one or more of the following:

  • Intellectual disability
  • Developmental delay
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Lifelong physical disability with significant mobility limitations
  • A pre-existing condition with a high probability of developmental delay

Project Examples:

The program may provide support for:

  • Family support services
  • Individualized planning and case management
  • In-home and community-based supports
  • Assistance accessing community resources and programs
  • Coordination with schools, child care providers, and healthcare professionals
  • Ongoing support from a Children’s disABILITY Services worker
